SPANGLER HILLS Off-Highway Vehicle Area (OHV) has over 57,000 acres of open public land. It provides a wide variety of riding opportunities including cross country play, trail riding, advanced technical routes, four wheel drive trails, and Enduro, Technique Trails, European Scramble and other competitive events.

VEHICLES PERMITTED: 4X4's, Motorcycles, Dune buggies, and ATV's.

LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY: All levels - beginner to expert.

TERRAIN: Steep mountains, open valley and rocky terrain. Open area, 57,000 acres

DIRECTIONS: 1). In Red Mountain take Hwy 395 North. Exit RIGHT on Searles Station Cutoff road. Go for about 3.17 miles to Pinnacle Rd. Make a RIGHT. Take Pinnacle Rd for about 6 Miles then make a LEFT. This is an area where I camp at (GPS waypoint listed below). OR 
2).You can take
the 5 Freeway North to the CA State Route 14. Take CA State Route 14 NORTH for approximately 67 miles to Mojave. At Mojave CA State Route 14 bears to the RIGHT. Continue on CA State Route 14 for approximately 35 miles. Turn RIGHT on CA State Route 178 EAST to Ridgecrest. (Do NOT turn LEFT onto 178 west to Bakersfield) Continue on CA State Route 178 through Inyokern and Ridgecrest. From the intersection of Ridgecrest Blvd & China Lake Blvd. (Downtown Ridgecrest, Denny’s & B of A) Turn LEFT/Drive east (at Denny’s) continuing on CA State Route 178 (Ridgecrest Blvd) for 8 to 9 miles. Turn RIGHT onto Trona Road. Drive 2 miles south on Trona Road and in about 2 miles you can look for signs.
